HAYWARD, CA July 22, 2026 - On July 20th, the invasive mosquito Aedes aegypti was detected for the first time in Castro Valley. In response, Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District staff have increased mosquito monitoring and control efforts in the area and will conduct a truck-mounted larval treatment during nighttime hours on July 23 to prevent additional adult mosquitoes from emerging. 

HAYWARD, Calif. July 9, 2026 – Due to increased West Nile virus activity in the Newark area, the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) will conduct two adult mosquito control treatments to affected areas centered near Mayhews Landings Park and Birch Grove Park on Friday July 10th.

 HAYWARD, Calif. HAYWARD, Calif.- On August 27, an invasive mosquito, Aedes aegypti, was detected in the Altamont Creek neighborhood of northeastern Livermore. After inspecting properties in the area, District staff will apply a mosquito-specific larval treatment on September 5th to prevent additional adults from emerging.
